Nakamoto Mizuki (中元みずき), currently known by her stage name Mizki, is a Japanese singer and former member of the trainee groups Bunnies and Rabbits.
After making her major debut as a soloist in late 2019 by singing the official Japanese rendition of "Into the Unknown", the ending song of the Disney movie Frozen 2, she continued her career as a singer under the stage name "Mizki" for her own original releases.
Biography[]
On the recommendation of the director of her nursery school, she entered a dance school in her home town and started studying singing and dancing at the age of five.[1]
When she was a junior high school student, her family moved to Osaka and she became a scholarship student of EXPG due to her singing voice. Her family went on to move to Tokyo, where she continued her training at EXPG. She graduated from EXPG between late 2016 and early 2017 in order to become a solo artist focused solely on singing.
Afterwards, she re-entered a singing school. While studying at a correspondence high school, she spent her days taking lessons, working part-time, and auditioning.[1]
In 2019, she participated in Universal Music's "Female Artist Audition". After passing the final screening, she also passed the ending song audition of Frozen 2 held by Disney US headquarters. This marked the first time for Disney to appoint a newcomer before their major debut as an artist who sings the Japanese version of an ending song.[2][3] She ultimately made her major debut as a soloist with the Japanese rendition of the song "Into the Unknown", released on November 22, 2019 as part of the original motion picture soundtrack of the movie Frozen 2.
On February 3, 2021, she released her first original song and first digital single "Crazy For You" under the stage name "Mizki".[4]
