Kitadera Uwa (北寺海羽), better known by her stage name UWA, is a Japanese performer, rapper, professional dancer and choreographer. She is a former member of MOONCHILD.
She passed the iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ audition in the girls division as one of seven winners in 2022 and was selected as one of the members of MOONCHILD.
Early Life[]
Kitadera Uwa was born on May 10, 2004 in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.
Kitadera started dancing at the age of 3.[1]
When she was in sixth grade, she decided that she would make a living through dance.[2]
After graduating from junior high school, she did not enter high school in order to focus on her career as a professional dancer.[2] At that time, she started working as a dance school instructor.
Career[]
In July 2018, UWA competed in the MUZA KAWASAKI Dance Grand Prix as part of the duo "UWAMOE" (together with MOE) and won second place in the high school division.[3][4] In November 2018, the duo also participated in the HAKUHO Dance Contest (sponsored by Hakuho University) and won second place. They performed at several other contests too.
In August 2021, she joined the competition program Street Dance of China S4 together with KELO Hirai.
From 2021 to 2022, she participated in the girls division of the audition iCON Z ~Dreams For Children~ and was chosen as one of 7 winners, securing her spot and debut as a member of a future girl group.[5][6][7][8][9]
On May 3, 2023, UWA made her major debut as a member of MOONCHILD with the release of the group's first EP DELICIOUS POISON.
On April 30, 2024, MOONCHILD disbanded. In the disbandment announcement, it was revealed that UWA would be departing from LDH to pursue new possibilities in the entertainment industry with a focus on dance.

- According to herself, she has always been positive and lived a bright life.[13]
- Up until the preparation period after MOONCHILD's debut was decided, she had only been dancing, so she had to learn how to sing and rap from scratch.[14]
