Takebe Yuzuna

Takebe Yuzuna (武部柚那), also known by the stage name yuzuna (ユズナ), is a Japanese singer and performer. She is a former member of the girl groups E-girls, Sudannayuzuyully and SWEET REVENGE.

Takebe left LDH JAPAN on December 31, 2021.

She debuted as a soloist on April 27, 2022 with the digital single "ALIGHT" under the stage name yuzuna.

Early Life[]

Takebe Yuzuna was born on June 17, 1998 in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. She has an older brother and an older sister.

Takebe first wanted to enter the entertainment industry when she was in elementary school. According to herself, she had a personality that desired to stand out.[1]

Wanting to do something different from other children, she started dancing at a local dance school in second grade and proceeded to pursue singing at avex artist academy in fourth grade. In her childhood, she participated in numerous auditions and contests, but was not able to succeed since she did not practice on her own at all. When she became a junior high school student, her parents told her to stop pursuing a career in the entertainment world if she couldn't make her debut. At that time, she saw the announcement of the EXILE Presents VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 3 ~For Girls~ while watching TV with her family and decided it was her last chance.[1]

Career[]

2011[]

In 2011, Takebe became a member of Tip-Lip (ティップリップ), an Osaka-based idol group from avex artist academy.[2][3]

In the same year, she participated of the EXILE Presents VOCAL BATTLE AUDITION 3 ~For Girls~ in the vocal section and successfully passed the audition. Afterwards, she became a member of the non-debuted group bunny as a vocalist and started training at EXPG Osaka.[1]

2012-2018[]

On August 23, 2012, after nearly two years of training, she was announced as a member of E-girls as part of bunny.[1]

On January 25, 2015, she was removed from E-girls and demoted to trainee level as part of Rabbits. On December 15 of the same year, she was re-added as a member of E-girls.[1]

On November 9, 2016, she joined the unit Sudannayuzuyully as a vocalist.

2019[]

In mid 2019, Takebe accompanied Happiness to Los Angeles and took singing and dancing lessons there. Through this experience she realized that she could fulfill her passion; singing and dancing, outside of Japan too. After returning to Japan, she talked to EXILE HIRO, who informed her of several girls affiliated with LDH who were training in Europe.[4]

Shortly after, she attended an internal presentation of the European trainees who had passed the LDH EUROPE Presents VOCAL BATTLE AUDITIONS ~THE GLOBAL STAR SEARCH~ and had travelled to Tokyo for a training camp. Takebe was so impressed with their potential that when she heard they were going back to the Netherlands, she asked HIRO directly if she could accompany them and he approved of her request. After two weeks of lessons and training together in the Netherlands, Takebe made the decision to work with the girls in the future.[4][5]

On December 22, with the announcement of E-girls' disbandment set for around the end of 2020, it was officially revealed that Takebe would be placed in a new, international unit formed in collaboration with DJ and LDH EUROPE CEO Afrojack.[6]

2020[]

On December 15, it was announced that Sudannayuzuyully would be disbanding on December 31 following the announcement of YURINO and Suda Anna leaving LDH JAPAN in the same day. Takebe would remain in the agency.

On December 28, during E-girls' last live concert, it was revealed that the name of LDH's first international girl group would be SWEET REVENGE and that Takebe would be a member of it with the stage name "YUZUNA".[7]

On December 31, she left E-girls and Sudannayuzuyully with the groups' disbandments.

2021[]

In summer, she was scheduled to move to Los Angeles, United States, alongside the other members of SWEET REVENGE in order to prepare for the group's debut.

In autumn, it seemed as if she had left SWEET REVENGE and returned to Japan as her name was not included in the official SNS accounts of the group.

On December 31, 2021, she announced that she would be leaving LDH JAPAN on the same day and continue her career as an artist.[8][9]

Announcement by Takebe Yuzuna[10]
To everyone who has always supported Takebe Yuzuna

I, Takebe Yuzuna, will be leaving LDH on December 31, 2021, after 10 years with the company.

During those 10 years of devoting all of my youth to the group activities, I learned the importance of my friends and had many experiences such as being able to stand on a big stage that I would never have been able to stand on by myself. I can say with pride that the reason I am where I am today is undoubtedly because I was allowed to work as an LDH artist.

When I started singing, my first dream was to become a solo artist who could sing and dance. After the breakup of the group, I went abroad as a member of SWEET REVENGE for a year to pursue my new dream, and I was able to meet new people and have special experiences. When I thought about the fact that I will continue to send out various messages through music in such a gratifying environment, I began to strongly wonder if I am really fine as I am now, and if I should face music more as a musician, and I decided to leave the company, thinking that now is the only time I can start learning music from scratch by myself.

From now on, I would like to sing and dance with all my might as an artist, and deliver music that will touch your hearts and give you courage and energy.

The fans I've met through my activities are my most precious treasure! Thank you for supporting the group and Takebe Yuzuna until now!

I am so happy to have been able to pursue my dreams and make them come true in LDH, a place filled with so many dreams, and to have been able to work as an artist named Takebe Yuzuna. I will devote every day of my life to becoming an artist who will not be ashamed of this experience, so please continue to support me.

I apologize for surprising you with this sudden announcement. I would like to thank all the fans and staff who have supported me for about 10 years. I hope you can look forward to seeing Takebe Yuzuna as an artist in the future.

2022[]

On January 26, it was announced that Takebe had signed a contract with J.E.T. MUSIC, a new record label that was established in 2020, and would go by the stage name "yuzuna" for her future solo career. She would be the label's second artist overall and their first female artist.[12] Additionally, articles for the announcement confirmed that she had already moved to the United States and prepared for her re-debut in SWEET REVENGE after E-girls' disbandment, but the COVID-19 pandemic led her to reevaluate her life as an artist and decide to take on the challenge of an independent solo career.[13][14][15]

On February 16, yuzuna's official fan app titled yuzu& was released. The service would offer exclusive contents for fans such as a blog, members-only videos, comments by yuzuna and more.[16]

On April 1, she launched the project "CITRUS JUNOS" produced by herself with the keywords "beauty, health, fashionable". The first product launched from this project was a CBD (Cannabidiol) vape, released in July.

On April 13, she announced that she would make her debut as a soloist on the 27th of the same month. On April 27, she released her solo debut single "ALIGHT".[17][18]

On June 8, yuzuna released her second digital single "MakeUWantMe".[19]

On December 7, she released her third digital single "Bad Dramatic" featuring $HOR1 WINBOY.

At the end of 2022, it seemed as if she had left her record label J.E.T. MUSIC since she was not listed as one of its artists on the official Website anymore.

Additionally, she revealed that she was pregnant. According to the couple's joint announcement, they had already registered their marriage in 2022.[20][21][22][23][24][25]
